Reports indicate that soldiers in Niger have blockaded the presidential palace and several ministries in the capital city, Niamey. So far, no shots have been fired, and the intentions behind the blockade remain unclear. It’s uncertain whether this is an attempt by the presidential guard to seize power, as President Mohamed Bazoum is currently in his residence with his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The president’s office responded by stating that the guards’ blockade was an “anti-republican” effort and that they sought support from the military, which proved unsuccessful. President Bazoum’s office reassured that he and his family are safe, and both the Army and National Guard are prepared to act against those involved in the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
