Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, has created the world’s first “Metaversity,” a virtual learning space based on real or imagined environments. Developed in partnership with virtual reality (VR) developers VictoryXR, the Metaversity allows students to attend classes remotely using VR headsets. The virtual space replicates the college campus, including classrooms and laboratories, and offers immersive learning experiences. The use of VR has resulted in increased attendance rates, engagement, and achievement among students. Morehouse College aims to reform the education sector by integrating emerging technologies for a better future. Other institutions are also exploring the potential of VR in education, although cost remains a barrier to wider adoption.
