Graham Potter, speaking after Brighton’s 1-0 loss to Wolves, said that the club had been denied a postponement due to their own outbreak.

Due to COVID-19 instances, Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has asked that Wednesday’s Premier League match against Wolves be called off. Brighton had previously been plagued by injuries in the weeks preceding up to their games, but Potter claimed that “three or four” coronavirus cases had compounded the problem.

After Brighton’s 1-0 loss to Wolves, he acknowledged the request, stating after the game, “We asked the question, sure, because of our condition.” You do not have time to be dissatisfied with your selection. It is all about getting the squad ready and getting ready for the game.

Brighton lost 1-0 to Wolves, and after the game he confirmed the request, saying: “We asked the question, yes, because of our situation. You haven’t really got the time to be disappointed by the decision. It’s about preparing the team and preparing for the game.

“That’s my job. I’m the head coach. You’ve got to try to prepare the team as best you can, so it’s not about disappointment or not. It is what it is. All you can do is put your case forward and speak to the people, and they will make the decision. ”

Brighton had to make do without striker Neal Maupay, midfielder Pascal Gross, defender and captain Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster, amongst others. Joel Veltman suffered an injury late in the game that may keep him out for the next few matches.

Burnley’s match with Watford and Manchester United’s game with Brentford are recent matches to have been postponed due to COVID-19 outbreaks, with no set rules for the Premier League to grant delays.
